Merry Christmas

Well, Christmas 2008 is officially over. We had a fun-filled couple days with family for Christmas. Christmas eve was at the Lieseners. We ate the whole day, watched the kids open gifts, and went to church together. Katy bought the baby it's first pair of nikes! Joner was very excited.

We also got a picture frame from Lois to put our upcoming ultra sound picture in. Christmas day, Joner and I spent the day relaxing. We made Christmas cookies but I realized too late that I only had like three cookie cutters. They still tasted awesome. Mom, dad, and Kathy came to visit after Christmas. Joner had a basketball tournament which they won. Yeah! Both JV and Varsity. On Saturday we had to go to the movies for our annual Christmas movie. We saw Yes Man. Cute movie made us laugh. Then we took mom and dad out to dinner for their anniversary. I was sick Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and mom ended up getting sick on Saturday night. Darn colds are not fun when you are pregnant. Mom and dad got us very nice travel mugs that plug into the car to keep them warm and an awesome ornament that mom had made. It has our names on it and says that we will be parents in 2009. A wonderful way to remember the pregnancy this year.
Here are a few pictures Joner and I tried to take at Christmas. We couldn't figure out the timer on the camera and it was like midnight on Christmas Eve so we did the traditional hold the camera as far away from your face as possible picture.

Merry Christmas!

Heartbeat....STRONG

Update from last time...12/10/08 was the culminating doctor's appointment. After some run around the appointment ended wonderfully with a loud and strong heartbeat. Joner was there with me and we got to hear it together. We were so excited to finally know that the baby was doing well and well on the way. I have been feeling well with no morning sickness. I am starting to get the bump which means I have to wear my bellaband with all of my pants to keep them up! Pretty much everyone knows now that we are expecting. Especially the people at work. These last two weeks have been filled with well wishes.
Last weekend was the Luedtke Family Christmas at Rhonda and Lances. It was so great to see everyone and it gave us a chance to celebrate the news all together as well. Joner's team played at the Target Center and won which was a nice addition to the weekend. Coming up is Christmas Eve at the Lieseners and then mom and Kathy are coming to visit the day after Christmas.
We are excited for the upcoming holiday season and being able to share our new joy with our friends and family.

So the family knows now

Well the Lieseners and the Luedtkes now know the exciting news, along with some close friends, and probably by this point the whole town of Winneconne. We told Joner's family on 11/21 when we celebrated Thanksgiving with them. We slowly told the whole fam as the arrived. We gave Joner's parents a Thanksgiving card and signed Joner, Sara, and Baby. They were very excited. The Thompsons were the next. Joner told Luke and had the kids play telephone telling each other until Katy and Chris were the only ones left and the kids told them. (side note: Katy already had suspected that I was expecting when we were at Teresa's 40th birthday party. She's just that good: The only one that figured it out early). After that came Greg and Joel. We celebrated with Champagne.
We told my parents on 11/26 the night before Thanksgiving. We told them that we couldn't go to Canada this year, which if you know my parents and how important the trip is you know it would make them raise an eyebrow in question. Mom's response was that they would go without us. But I told her they might not want to go either since the baby would only be like a month old. Dad got it right away but it took a while for it to sink in with my mom. Later that night we had our traditional Thanksgiving Eve outing in Winneconne with friends where we proceeded to tell everyone since alcohol would be the last thing I was drinking that night. Faith and I called Mickey to tell her the exciting news since she couldn't be there. We told my mom's side of the family right after the prayer on Thanksgiving and then I called to tell the Luedtke side.
I think the best reaction so far was my grandpa. After hunting on Thanksgiving, Joner convinced my grandpa just to stop down before they left for Thanksgiving dinner. I told him we were expecting and he gave me the biggest hug he has ever giving me. I saw a glimmer in his eye and he kept saying thank you. He was the most excited out of everyone.
Now we are waiting until our next appointment on 12/10 when we get to hear the heartbeat!!! After that we are probably going to tell everyone else especially people at work.
PS I need to start taking more pictures.
